Scott Peters for Congress Launches First Ad of 2026: “Stormed In”
Highlights Peters’ Work to Stop Violent Actions by ICE

San Diego, CA — As mail ballots drop across California this month, the Scott Peters for Congress (CA-50) campaign unveiled its first advertisement of the cycle titled, “Stormed In.”

The ad reinforces Peters’ strong opposition to the heinous, violent, and deadly tactics of Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement operation. It features local news footage of a raid at a local restaurant in the South Park neighborhood near downtown San Diego.

Peters’ voice tells the story: “It was just before dinner. Here. When twenty ICE agents in full combat gear stormed in. It was terrifying, unconscionable, and cruel.”

He continues: “Donald Trump is a threat to our country and our communities. His ICE agents recklessly kill innocent people – excessive, unjustified violence. They’re making us less safe. That’s why I refuse to fund Trump’s ICE. And wrote legislation to hold them accountable.”

In November 2025, Peters introduced the Stop Excessive Force in Immigration Act to apply basic constitutional and use-of-force standards to federal law enforcement officers. The bill places stricter limits on force and the use of crowd munitions like flash bangs and tear gas and increases transparency by requiring body worn cameras and limiting facemasks. SEFI currently has 112 cosponsors in the House of Representatives as well as a Senate companion.

“We ask our local police departments to adhere to strict use-of-force and transparency standards, and we should require nothing less from federal officers,” said Peters.

According to FWD.US, a national organization that advocates for criminal justice and immigration reform, Trump’s overly broad and aggressive immigration enforcement could cause the San Diego metro area up to $3 billion annually. Work permit cancellations, mass deportations and reduced legal immigration could cause San Diego to lose between 23,000 and 29,100 workers across all industries. Nationally, this could raise housing costs by 6.1% by 2028 and increase food costs by 14.5%.

The Stormed In campaign ad begins airing on OTT/CTV, streaming and digital later this week.

Peters was first elected to Congress in 2012. California’s 50th Congressional district includes much of the city of San Diego, the cities of Poway, Coronado, Santee, the community of Ramona, and other parts of northeast San Diego County.
