Statement from Congressman Scott Peters on February Jobs Report

SAN DIEGO, CA – Today, Congressman Scott Peters released the following statement in response to the Department of Labor’s February jobs report.

“Today’s jobs report speaks to the resilience of San Diegans and the American people, who have been waiting for Congress to get out of its own way and help, not hinder our economy. Last month’s progress is encouraging. 246,000 private sector jobs were added and unemployment is at a 4 year low, but there is still more to do.  We cannot forget that San Diego families and small businesses are still struggling. That is why collaborating with my colleagues, on both sides of the aisle, to develop a balanced budget and long term deficit reduction plan is one of my top priorities. A vibrant economy demands more than simply reining in spending. We must fix our tax code, support our small businesses and military, and invest in scientific research and infrastructure to promote economic growth and job creation.”
