Recognized for bipartisan leadership for second straight re-election bid
Today, the Scott Peters for Congress campaign announced that Scott Peters has been awarded the No-Labels Problem Solver Seal of Approval for the second straight election cycle. The distinction recognizes Peters for his record of bipartisanship in Congress and his commitment to create high-quality jobs, protect Social Security and Medicare, balance the federal budget, and enhance America’s energy security.
During his career as a public servant, Scott Peters has developed a solid reputation as someone who is willing to reach across the aisle and achieve bipartisan solutions to tough problems. Earlier this year, Congressional Quarterly named Congressman Peters one of the most independent members of Congress; Peters was also named the fourth most independent Democrat in Congress by National Journal during his first term.
“San Diegans know that Congress is broken. I have a plan to fix Congress and make it work for the people again, but none of that can happen until we start working together,” said Scott Peters. “Putting ideas ahead of ideology has earned me support from across the political spectrum and from groups in the middle like No Labels that see bipartisan problem solving as the path to ending gridlock in D.C. and building an economy that works for everyone.”
No Labels is an organization made up of Republicans, Democrats, and Independents that respects a diversity of viewpoints and is focused on bringing bipartisan problem solving to D.C. In a letter announcing the award, No Labels’ co-chairs said, “The Problem Solver Seal of Approval represents your commitment to voters that you will enter the 115th Congress […] ready to work with both parties to find solutions.”
