Rep. Peters’ Statement on Vote to Protect Women’s Reproductive Rights
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Scott Peters (CA-52) released the following statement after voting against H.R. 7, legislation which would restrict a woman’s right to use her own money to purchase health insurance on the private market that meets her health care needs:
“Instead of working to build more bipartisan consensus on job-creation and growing the economy, the House Republican majority wasted valuable taxpayer time by putting forward this bill that undermines the right of women across the country to make their own reproductive health choices. Given how many important economic priorities Congress could be acting on today, it is disappointing that Speaker Boehner and majority would choose for us to focus on this divisive and harmful measure today.”
