Rep. Peters’ Statement on North County Fires
SAN DIEGO, CA – This afternoon, U.S. Congressman Scott Peters (CA-52) released the following statement regarding the Bernardo / 4S Fire, as well as the fires burning in Carlsbad, Camp Pendleton, Fallbrook, and other parts of northern San Diego County:
“While I am pleased to hear that Bernardo / 4S Fire is moving toward containment, and that many residents of my district were able to return to their homes overnight, there are growing fires in the northern part of our county that my staff and I are monitoring. I heard Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman on KUSI news this morning say that yesterday’s evacuations went smoothly and people from my district affected were able to return to their homes. I thank residents for their great cooperation with our public safety officers and first responders. This is the best way members of the public can help reduce risks for themselves and for our fire-fighters. With the multiple active fires burning in North County, I urge all San Diegans to be on alert for evacuations and public safety instructions from our firefighters and police officers.”
