Rep. Peters Hosts US Trade Representative Froman for Democratic Freshmen
Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Scott Peters (CA-52) hosted Ambassador Michael Froman, the United States Trade Representative, at a meeting with Democratic freshmen members along with his fellow California freshman Rep. Ami Bera (CA-07). The forum provided members a chance to ask questions, air concerns, and gain a better understanding of the trade debates surrounding the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) that Congress may consider in the coming months.
“I was honored to host Ambassador Froman today to hear his perspective and answers, especially given the immense scope of the potential Trans-Pacific Partnership,” Congressman Peters said. “The TPP & TTIP will be the first major trade negotiations the freshman class will encounter, and I thought it was important that we have a chance to ask the Ambassador about the concerns that constituents from various sectors have aired about how a TPP deal might affect them.”
