Rep. Peters Helps Pass ‘Hire More Heroes Act’
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Scott Peters (CA-52) helped the House of Representatives pass H.R. 3474, the ‘Hire More Heroes Act,’ which exempts veterans and reservists who receive healthcare benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or TRICARE from being counted toward the employer mandate under the Affordable Care Act.
“The ‘Hire More Heroes Act’ is a bipartisan jobs bill that will not only encourage the hiring of veterans but will also allow businesses to expand and grow our economy without being penalized,” said Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.), who introduced the legislation. “I appreciate the support and assistance in getting this bill through the House from my friend, Rep. Peters, and look forward to more opportunities for us to work together to put forth commonsense legislation that will help put our nation’s unemployed veterans back to work.”
“Today’s bipartisan bill is another way to speed up the hiring of veterans in San Diego and across the country,” Rep. Peters said. “In addition to launching the recent Military Transition Support Project and helping hundreds of local veterans attain their rightful benefits, I am proud to support and vote for legislation like this that will get these talented men and women to work.”
