San Diego — The Peters for Congress campaign has raised more than $700,000 for the second quarter of 2014, a strong showing that increases the campaign’s cash on hand to $1.92 million.”Our newest fundraising totals are the latest sign that our campaign is going strong and gaining steam,” Rep. Peters said. “I’m confident that San Diegans support my vision of a Congress that stops fighting, starts fixing and produces solutions for small businesses, students and families working to make ends meet and get ahead.”Rep. Peters has helped pass the “No Budget, No Pay” law, guided the creation of the Military Transition Support Project, and helped keep student loan rates low. Peters has worked with both Republicans and Democrats to achieve solutions, and was named one of the most independent members of Congress by National Journal. He was elected to the 52nd District in 2012, defeating incumbent Brian Bilbray. Before that, he was elected twice to San Diego’s first council district – contained within the 52nd district – serving as the city’s first council president and later as chair of the San Diego Unified Port District.
