Today, after a recording of Donald Trump’s disgusting and predatory comments toward women was published by The Washington Post, the Scott Peters for Congress campaign is calling on Denise Gitsham to fully repudiate Donald Trump’s candidacy once and for all.
Gitsham has refused to reject Trump, who has now been caught on tape bragging about non-consensual kissing, attempting to sleep with a married woman, and taking advantage of his celebrity status to sexually abuse women. For months Gitsham has evaded reporters’ questions about who she supports for President, at one point calling it, “a waste of her time.”
MaryAnne Pintar, Peters’ campaign manager, released the following statement:
“For months, Ms. Gitsham has danced around the question of who she supports for President. After today’s revelations, more than ever, San Diegans deserve to know if Denise Gitsham will use her vote to help this unfit, dangerous, abusive man become the next President of the United States.
“In sharp contrast, Rep. Peters has strongly denounced Trump’s hateful rhetoric and dangerous ideas for months; he knows that being a leader means standing up for what’s right. Rep. Peters is appalled and disgusted by Donald Trump’s vulgar behavior revealed by today’s recording. Our campaign calls on Denise Gitsham to denounce Donald Trump, and to call upon him to resign as the Republican nominee for President immediately.”
