Arizona senator and congress members hear challenges at the border
July 7th, 2021
Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema and California Congressmen Juan Vargas and Scott Peters tour the San Ysidro Port of Entry and local nonprofit assisting migrants.
Customs and Border Protection officials spoke about the challenges at the port and along the California border. They also discussed how Jewish Family Service’s play a big role in assisting migrants.
As Chair of the Senate’s Border Management Subcommittee, Sen. Sinema visits border regions to secure the borders and support border communities to treat migrants and unaccompanied children fairly and humanely.
āOur tour and discussions allowed us to see firsthand the unique challenges in this border region and the need for meaningful steps from the federal government to secure the border. Weāre working across party lines to ensure our border communities get critical support, and all migrants are treated fairly and humanely,ā said Sinema.
Sinema and Republican Senator John Cornyn recently introduced the Bipartisan Border Solutions Act. Which helps improve the federal government’s response to the border crisis, reduces the impact on local border communities, and ensures migrants are treated fairly and humanely.
