Congressman Peters’ Statement on President Obama’s 2014 Budget Proposal

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Scott Peters (CA-52) released the following statement on President Obama’s 2014 Budget Proposal.

“Today, the president put forth his 2014 budget proposal. Since before taking office, I have advocated for Congress to sit down as a team of Americans, not partisans, and craft a budget. This is what our constituents elected us to do. The president’s proposal forces members from both the left and the right to come to the middle and make tough decisions to tackle wasteful spending, lower our deficit, reform our tax code, preserve safety net programs, make critical investments in infrastructure, education, and basic scientific research, and support a strong military. Not all legislators are going to agree to this but the president’s efforts to find common ground and develop a realistic budget for our country cannot be ignored.”
