Congressman Peters Statement on Ending FAA Furloughs
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Scott Peters (CA-52) released the following statement on the passage of H.R. 1765, which allows the FAA the flexibility necessary to end the furloughs that have caused airport delays for passengers across the country this week.
“I voted today to provide the FAA with flexibility to avoid furloughing its workers. However, this piece-by- piece approach to budgeting is not the way to run a country. Even though we helped air traffic today, the same issue will come up at the end of this year. We need to be working to end the entire sequester that caused these indiscriminate cuts and look for ways to come to a budget agreement through negotiating across the aisle.
“I will continue to try to bring people in Congress together to discuss the budget in a responsible manner. The people of San Diego and the country at large deserve bipartisan solutions.”
