WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Scott Peters (CA-52) released the following statement on American Craft Beer Week, which is being celebrated nationwide May 12-19. San Diego is home to numerous breweries and, according to a study by National University’s System Institute for Policy Research, the craft brewing industry generates nearly $300 million in annual economic impact on the region.
“San Diego has become a hub for the craft brewing industry in recent years,” Rep. Peters said. “These businesses are an economic driver for our region, and they are promoting tourism along the way. As more craft breweries open in the area, they continue to enrich their communities as a gathering place for all generations of San Diegans.”
“I am proud to represent and enjoy some of the best craft breweries in the country, as evidenced by Men’s Journal ranking San Diego the #1 beer city in America, and I will continue to work with members of both parties to make sure that government is helping not hindering their growth.”
