Resources for Employees/Workers

Various unemployment benefits can help workers who are experiencing reduced hours or facing layoffs as a result of the coronavirus. Filing for any coronavirus-related unemployment benefits, family or medical leave, or disability benefits can be done through California’s Employment Development Department.

If you have questions or concerns related to unemployment benefits, please contact your state level representatives for assistance. You may find your state representatives here.

Other information pertaining to employment assistance, including the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) program and possible hotel rooms for California healthcare workers, can be found on the State of California’s coronavirus response page.

Additionally, qualifying low-wage workers may be eligible for direct rent and utility assistance through the San Diego Worker Assistance Initiative.
