During National Small Business Week, Rep. Scott Peters, announced the endorsement of the Downtown San Diego Partnership, a group with over 350 members, including tech entrepreneurs and other startup business owners.
“The Downtown San Diego Partnership and I share the common goal of strengthening our downtown as a place for new tech startup ventures,” Peters said. “I appreciate their support and look forward to continuing my work with them to bring talent and capital to San Diego’s urban core.”
During his nearly two decades representing San Diego, Peters has worked to make downtown San Diego an attractive and dynamic place to live, play and launch a small business.
In a letter announcing their endorsement, the Partnership said, “In your time as Congressman, you have demonstrated a great understanding of issues facing our urban core and you have been a true champion for all San Diego communities. It is with great enthusiasm that we have endorsed your candidacy for re-election and we look forward to your continued success and leadership.”
Rep. Peters has worked with the Downtown San Diego Partnership and its members on a number of initiatives ranging from promoting STEM learning among San Diego high school students to helping the homeless get off the streets and into housing. During the last year, Rep. Peters, who is a former small business owner, held town halls with small business members of the Partnership — one at Classy for Startup Day Across America and another at Zeeto for a visit from the Congressional Future Forum.
The support of the Downtown San Diego Partnership and previously announced endorsement from the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce demonstrate the widespread support among San Diego’s small business and business community for Rep. Peters’ reelection.
